About Us

The Hattie B. Black Women In Progress (BWIP) was founded in 2018 in honor of Hattie Barnett, a woman who worked tirelessly to enrich the lives of the African American community in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Her commitment to family overflowed into dedicating herself to community service, outreach programs, and mentoring. This legacy has become the foundation for re-establishing Black Women In Progress as an institution for progressive change and unity. Hattie B. BWIP was formed in Hattie’s memory by her granddaughter, Acacia Barnett. Owner of Acacia B. Brows & Beauty + Barnett Salon Suites.
